Sample
Galaxies included in GA-NIFS exhibit a broad range of redshift (z~2-11, or ~0.4-3.2 billion years after the Big Bang), and include star-forming galaxies (SFGs), submillimeter galaxies (SMGs), active galactic nucleus host galaxies (AGNs), and quasars (QSOs; note that these classifications are evolving with new data and analyses).
In addition, most pointings include multiple galaxies of different types (e.g., a quiescent galaxy, a warm dusty star-forming galaxy, multiple AGN, extended nebulae), so the true diversity is much more rich.
The sources were selected considering multiple criteria, but in general they are extended and luminous, making them appropriate for IFS studies and complementary to NIRSpec MOS surveys (e.g., JADES , WIDE ).
